Ekuilibër ndërmjet acideve dhe bazave në plazmën e gjakut, i cili shprehet me përqendrim të joneve hidrogjen. Kjo gjendje shkaktohet nga sasia e materialeve acidike dhe bazike, që thithen dhe prodhohen nga metabolizmi, krahasuar me vlerat e materialeve acidike dhe bazike që ekskretohen nga trupi dhe që konsumohen nga metabolizmi trupor.
